Selling tickets online is mostly an exercise in removing reasons not to buy. Every extra field, every unexplained fee and every payment method you do not support is a buyer who closes the tab.
Accept how Nigerians actually pay
Cards, bank transfer and USSD all matter, and the mix shifts by audience. A younger, Lagos-heavy crowd leans card; a broader national audience uses transfer far more than most organizers expect. Supporting only one method quietly caps your sales.
Ask for less
Name, email, phone. That is a ticket purchase. Everything else you think you need can be collected later, in a follow-up email to people who have already paid you.
Show the total early
If there is a service fee, show it on the ticket selection screen, not at the last step. Buyers do not object to fees nearly as much as they object to being surprised by them.
The confirmation is part of the product
It should arrive within seconds, contain the ticket itself, state the date, time and venue in full, and be findable later by searching the buyer's inbox for the event name. A confirmation that takes ten minutes generates a support message every time.
Know your payout timing before you need the money
Understand when funds settle and what triggers a hold, because your vendors will be asking for balances before the event, not after.
